I got a hint that this was brewing and under development when I browsed through Jeff Tunnell’s blog a few months back. Jeff Tunnell is the public face behind GarageGames, makers of indie game engines and advocates of the Microsoft XNA game development platform for the PC and Xbox360.
Before I get too far off, well, the Great Games Experiment is finally here! It’s basically what the title says. It’s a social community site where gamers and game developers can connect. I’ve always looked for something like this, where I can show what I’m currently playing, the games I’ve finished, take a look at what other players are playing in turn. GGE does all this. This is also a massive boost for indie game developers.
Although I managed to get an account, I haven’t explored too deeply yet. But it sports its own scripting language so those programming-inclined can embed videos and other stuff on their online profile.
I’ll be keeping on eye on this and post my findings. Make sure you check it out!
