Dear Walkthrough Authors, whoever and wherever you may be:
Thank you.
If it weren’t for the many hours you spend exploring everything about the game, experimenting to see what happens when character X does task Y in Z manner, and trying to get all possible endings, the world would come crashing down.
It’s the time you spend that frees up our schedules, and leaves us with enough time to hang out with friends and loved ones, give our families the QT they deserve, and even (*shudder*) get some work done. Your sacrifices keep the rest of us productive.
For you know how addicting games can be, how we all say “ok, I’ll just explore this dungeon for an hour” and find ourselves fighting our fourth consecutive boss while the sun rises. You also know how frustrating making the wrong choices is, such as allying with a certain faction only to find out it leads down a much harder path.
You show us the right way, and how to overcome the most difficult of enemies. You’ve learned the games’ lessons well, and are eager to share your experience with the rest of us. The time wasted going down dead-end paths and the frustration of making mistakes are all but eliminated because of you.
Some of you take guidance to the next level, compiling statistics and other myriad game universe info that ultimately makes no significant difference. Yet it satisfies our craving for information and the wish to know everything about something. People may accuse you of taking away the satisfaction of finding out things for yourselves, but they’re secretly thanking you to the high heavens every time they encounter a puzzle that has no easy solution.
It’s your willingness to shut out the social life, fulfill all academic and work-related responsibilities to the bare minimum, and limit your sleep to four hours a day that makes your efforts possible. We understand that you’re more passionate about gaming than we’ll ever be, and we accept your superiority.
We consider all of you heroes, using up your free time so that we may enjoy hours.
Thank you very much!
Regards,
Space Invaded
